Meet the Founder: Priscilla Mota
Hello, my name is Priscilla Mota, and I am a first-generation American born to Dominican parents. Born and raised on the Upper West Side of New York City. I am a Licensed Social Worker in New Jersey, Community Organizer, Spiritual Grit Coach, and CEO of Brown Girls Awakening, LLC. I have spent the last 15 years working towards mobilizing and empowering her community members by using my community organizing skills to encourage stakeholders to become active in the change they would like to see in their lives. After receiving my Master’s in Social Work, I launched Brown Girls Awakening, LLC, to create workshops centered around mental health and self-care. Inspired by my journey with mental health, I create workshops that help individuals discover the balance needed to live a healthier lifestyle.
I understand the value of creating spaces for people to come together and explore the different emotions of being human. By designing these workshops centered around the needs of people who come from marginalized communities, I help to promote the feeling of safety and healing among individuals to come together and learn from one another.
I have designed and facilitated workshops with the following companies/schools:
The Marcy Lab School - Workshops for staff and students on Imposter Syndrome & The Four Agreements.
Hispanic Dental Association of Queens - Mental Health and Burnout workshop among professionals.
Paterson Public School #6 - Mental Health and Anxiety workshop for staff.
West End Secondary School - Mental Health workshop for students.
